## The Convention

The British Ring Convention has been held continuously since 1931 (except wartime
years and pandemic years 2020–2021). It is the UK's premier annual magic convention
and one of Europe's longest-established.

**The convention is open to everyone. You do not need to be a member of the British
Ring or any other organisation to attend.** Tickets are sold to any member of the
public. Members pay a reduced registration fee; non-members are equally welcome.

Each convention brings together performers, lecturers, dealers, collectors and
enthusiasts from the UK and overseas.

**Andrew Van Buren & Allyson**
Role: Gala Show
Background: Born into a magical show business family. His parents Van Buren & Greta
invented and performed illusions worldwide, including at FISM Brussels. Andrew combines
unicycle, trick cycling, juggling and illusion. Recognised as one of the world's top
plate spinning experts. Partner Allyson is a trained dancer with historic links to the
Buffalo Bill Wild West Shows.

**Fritz with a Z**

Q: Can I attend if I am not a professional magician?
A: Yes. At the Convention your status in magic is never queried. Whether professional,
semi-professional, amateur or hobbyist is of no concern. It is our love for the art
of magic that matters.

Q: Do I have to be a member of the British Ring to attend?
A: No. The convention is open to everyone. Non-members are welcome. Membership does
give a financial advantage — the registration fee is lower for members and the
difference equates to roughly a year's subscription.

Q: Can I register for a single day?
A: Yes. A single day's registration is available at a reduced cost. A Saturday day
ticket does not include a ticket for the Gala Show, which can be obtained separately
from the Theatre Box Office.

Q: What do I gain by attending?
A: An opportunity to witness top-rate magicians perform; to attend lectures and
workshops by masters of the art; to browse the trade exhibition; and to make lasting
connections with fellow magicians. Informal late-night magic sessions often continue
into the early hours.
