Nikola Arkane and Tom Stone - Joint Lecture
What happens when a magic innovator and a magic whirlwind get together to work? A creative storm that will blow the art of magic to newer and higher heights than ever before!
After discovering their styles quite compliment each other, Tom and Nikola joined forces to create this unique back to back lecture filled with close-up, parlour effects and ideas that will hopefully inspire you all to take your routines to another level. Nikola Arkane
Nikola won the I.B.M British Ring Close-up Championship in 2019 and two weeks later was booked to perform at The Magic Castle, Hollywood.
She has since appeared at The Chicago Magic Lounge, The Magic Bar (Norway), Mystique (Sweden), and Magialdia (Spain). During the pandemic she performed virtually for The Magic Castle, Chicago Magic Lounge, Washington Magic, Monday Night Magic, and Amsterdam Magic Club to name but a few. In February this year she lectured and performed at the Blackpool Magic Convention.
Nikola shares an inspirational blog on her journey as a performer and has also written two books and two sets of lecture notes. This year, she auditioned for Sweden’s ‘Talang’ (Sweden’s Got Talent) and became a semi-finalist with her unique theatrical style.

Tom Stone
Tom lives in Stockholm, Sweden. Through the years he has gained a reputation for his practical innovations and his knowledge about misdirection. His two books, ‘Vortex’ and ‘Maelstrom’ are known as modern classics. He has been nominated three times for the FISM special awards, received the 2015 Creative Fellowship from the Academy of Magical Arts, and he is a master at annoying people on Facebook.
Tom also initiated ‘Mystique’ - a three year long experiment in Stockholm where he and three colleagues produce and perform a new show with all new material each month. He has a strong interest in matters relating to further education for experienced magicians and was the head instructor of three courses at Stockholm University of the Arts.

Mark James
Mark has worked professionally for almost two decades in over 40 countries worldwide. He combines expert sleight of hand magic with comedy, juggling and other vaudevillian variety skills to create a unique and amazing show. He has provided 'audience warm up' for many of your favourite TV shows from The Xtra Factor and The Voice to A Question Of Sport, Celebrity Tipping Point and Culinary Genius USA.
Mark regularly performs at The World Famous Magic Castle Hollywood, House Of Cards Nashville and Chicago Magic Lounge in the USA. He has also provided magic on board the world renowned Orient Express. In February 2020 he flew to Ohio to give his second lecture for Penguin Magic USA. In early 2021 Mark lectured for the members of the Magic Circle and was awarded promotion to AIMC Silver as a result.

Dion van Rijt
Dion was born in Delft, in the Netherlands. As a young child, he endlessly bowed in front of the mirror and performed different characters to his family. But one day, he received a magic box from his parents and he immediately fell in love with it. While practicing magic tricks, dancing, jumping and turning, Dion started to take ballet classes. Shortly after studying sleight of hand and turning pirouettes, he participated in various magic competitions.
His versatility paid off, because Dion became grand prix winner at the European Championships of Magic. He was also the youngest participant ever to win 3rd prize at the World Championships of Magic. These victories at such a young age were his stepping stones to performing different short acts all over the world. Performing globally always pushes Dion to deliver new acts of a high artistic and unique form. Almost all of Dion’s creations are designed and built by him.

Todd Landman
The Academic Magician
Todd Landman is Professor of Political Science, Executive Director of the Rights Lab, and Pro Vice Chancellor of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Nottingham. He is Associate of the Inner Magic Circle with Silver Star, Founder and Lifetime Honorary Member of the British Society of Mystery Entertainment, Member of the Society of American Magicians, Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and Visiting Professor of Performance Magic at the University of Huddersfield. He is creator and author of many books, routines, and effects for the discerning mystery entertainer, including Luna, The Ring of Gyges, Cogito Ergo Sum, The Bequeathment, The Condemned, Macrocosm, The Orne Experiments, Metaphysical Magic, Epistementalogie, The Magiculum, The Magiculum II, Roderick’s Diary, and Hevel.
Todd brings his performance of The Lost of History to Eastbourne, and will deliver his lecture Tales from the Magiculum.

Martin Duffy
Martin has been a professional Magician for over 35 years and specialises in Educational Magic in Schools. At Eastbourne his lecture will be aimed at children’s entertainers but be reassured, you don’t HAVE to be one to use the material he's going to be talking about. It can also be applied to trade shows and exhibitions where magic is being used to draw a crowd to deliver a message. Martin will also be covering some Close-up Magic and his work with animatronic puppets.

Cameron Gibson

Cameron Gibson is a world-class event host, magician and mind-reader originally from Edinburgh, Scotland. He has travelled around the world with his engaging and entertaining performances.
After gaining experience as a resident in Glasgow’s famous Wild Cabaret, he travelled the UK as a keynote speaker with Tree Of Knowledge, performing to over twenty-thousand people across two years. Cameron is currently based in Toronto, Canada, where he is the creative lead, consultant and head magician on Illusionarium, Toronto - The world’s first immersive magic experience; and Magic Immersive, Chicago - A magic show in 360 degrees!

Bernardo Sedlacek
Bernardo is the creator of the bestselling effect ‘Good Intuition’. Bernardo is known for his amazingly strong magic, unique style, creativity, and extreme card skills. Bernardo has travelled the world performing side by side with some of the greatest magicians such as Dani DaOrtiz, Bill Malone, Asi Wind, Lennart Green, and many more.

Brando and Silvana
Originally from Argentina but currently residing in Barcelona, Spain, they have been professional magicians since 1987. They have performed all around the world and their work is based on a mixture of different artistic disciplines: Theatre, Mime and Juggling with Magic. They have received several awards including the ’Magic Comet’ Award for Best Gala Performance in 2005, Best Comedy Street Magic award 2010 and 1st prize Street Magic Festival in 2011 at St Wendel in Germany, and Most Original Stage Act in The European Championship of Magic at Blackpool in 2011.
Brando and Silvana will be delighting us with their stage act at Eastbourne and Brando will also be delivering his lecture on the paddle move where you can learn techniques to push the possibilities of the paddle to the limit!

Steve Hewlett
Over the last 25 years Steve Hewlett has performed at 1000's of venues to millions of people. As well as touring the UK in the Ken Dodd Laughter Show for 3 years, Steve had the Amazing opportunity to tour his show 'Thinking Inside The Box' after his successful appearance on ITV's Britain's Got Talent Final with his Simon Cowell creation.

Steve has also toured with ‘30 Years Of Talking To Myself’, which he then took to Blackpool’s Pleasure Beach for a summer season. In March 2020 he launched and closed his 3rd UK Tour, ‘A Day In The Life Of Arthur Lager’, in the same weekend. He kept busy during Lockdowns 1-3 editing his upcoming Book ‘Ventriloquest’ paying tribute to his peers in the Art of Ventriloquism. Steve also launched his Podcast, ‘Eyes & Teeth’, talking to his Comedy & Variety favourites from TV, Radio, Theatre, Comedy Clubs and Cruises. Brian Lead

Appearing at Eastbourne this year, Immediate Past President Brian Lead will be taking over as the host for the History of Mystery session, established in 1973 by Eddie Dawes. A Member of the Inner Magic Circle, Brian is one of only a handful of people to have received the Hoffmann Award for contributions to magic literature, and is also the recipient of an Award of Excellence from the I.B.M. for his monthly column ‘From our UK Correspondent’ in The Linking Ring.

Donald Bevan, with Janet Budd, presenting 'Milton Woodward: The Magician who Changed Magic'

If the magic world had ‘national treasures’, one would surely be the legendary former editor of Abracadabra, Donald Bevan. Donald recently collated the research notes of his late friend David Budd and developed them into the book 'Milton Woodward: The Magician that Changed Magic'. Milton acted as mentor to the young David, and the book is packed with pictures, interesting facts and amusing incidents, many of which Donald will be sharing in his talk in the History of Mystery session. Donald will be joined by special guest Janet Budd, who is David’s daughter.

Ian Marriott presents 'The 111-year history of The Associated Wizards of the South'
Ian Marriott provides the definitive history of his own local society, the Associated Wizards of the South, founded in Southampton in 1911. The fourth oldest magic society in the UK, and the sixth in the world, the AWS had fascinating associations with Houdini, our own Jeffery Atkins and ‘Professor’ Harry Woodley – one of John Fisher’s ‘Heroes of Magic’. Ian will be exploring these, and more, in this year’s History of Mystery session.

Neil Roberts presents 'Tales From the Prompt Corner'
Former British Ring President, and President Elect of the Northern Magic Circle, Neil Roberts is a natural raconteur. He has been the winner of many performing awards, most notably with his act as a street performer and his authentic recreation of The Mandarin. Neil also spent many years as stage manager for our British Ring convention shows, on each occasion writing a retrospective ‘From the Prompt Corner’. In the History of Mystery session this year, Neil will be recalling some of his most memorable experiences, as only he can.

The Wayne Dobson Show will take place on Friday 2 September at the Devonshire Park Theatre. Wayne will be bringing his recently debuted new show direct from his home town to Eastbourne! Unique fun, comedy and his own mesmerising brand of magic, Wayne will prove an inspiring insight into his philosophy of life that he has repeatedly yelled gleefully into the face of his condition: “I may have got MS, but MS hasn’t got me...yet!”

Mark Shortland has entertained audiences around the world, with regular performances at The Magic Castle and a starring role on the U.S. TV show holiday special ‘Penn & Teller: Merry Fool Us’. He will be performing in the Gala Show and presenting a lecture at Eastbourne.

The Jeffery Atkins Memorial Lecture will be a Q&A on the Sunday and we are thrilled to announce this will be with Nick Mohammed. Nick is best known for his character Mr Swallow which he has portrayed across both stage and television for over a decade. A star in the comedy world, and increasingly in demand as an actor and comedian, this is a must see event at the convention.

Craig Petty is best known for his incredible award-winning tricks and performances and for the last 25 years he has risen through many challenges and achieved success like no other. We are delighted that he will be presenting a lecture for delegates on the Saturday of the convention.

Michael Carr is proud to be returning to the British Ring Convention to compère the Saturday night Gala Show. For the past ten years Martyn James, The Tricky Comic, has been visiting holiday resorts and bobbing around the seas with his unique brand of fun. He will read your mind, attempt world records, baffle you with his magic and just make you laugh with his ‘off the wall’ humour at our Welcome Party.
Laura London will be performing in the Stars Of Close up at Eastbourne. She is one of the world’s leading female sleight of hand artists, highly skilled close-up magician, cabaret performer, motivational speaker and an acclaimed lecturer on various aspects of the history of magic.
The Sooty and Friends Magic Show is coming to the Devonshire Park Theatre! Catch Sooty and the gang on the 3rd September along with special guests Fizzwizz Pop, Mel Harvey, Rebecca Foyle and Martin Duffy, with a chance to meet Richard and Sooty after the show.

Elliot Bibby will be bringing his show direct from the Edinburgh Fringe, where he has performed for 9 years running. He headlined at the Magic Castle in their virtual show in 2021 and is the current ‘WINNER of the Sonny Day Edinburgh Close-Up Magician of the Year’.
